Ahmed Aly

Bio

Ahmed is a Language Teacher and curriculum and course designer. His interests in media come from a desire to understand how learning can be accelerated and enhanced through different tools. Some of these tools include, WordPress, Learning Management Systems (LMS), storyboarding, and others. Beyond everything, he emphasizes his teaching practice to be centered around story telling: telling students stories, hearing life stories, and creating a story together as they learn a new language. With the methodology of re-storying, different types of media are involved. From the traditional: graphic novels or comics to more modern approaches of video, learning the relationships between creating and learning, he looks for new ways to design, create, and bring to fruition things that allow students to move from a perspective of having one language, one community, to having access to many communities, and within each, a different, but related identity.

Questionaire

Why did you get involved in this project?

I wanted to learn about digital media creation and story telling. It was also a part of the Massive/Micro project prompts.

Did the one week turn-around for the work help or hinder your creativity?

It was a reasonable time frame. My role was only to record a video, so I felt that could be done during about 1 week I was given.

How did you feel about working on a project where you didn’t know who you were collaborating with?

I liked the idea. It made the final product more anticipated.

Has being involved in the project changed your thoughts on creativity?

I had some ideas which are constantly evolving, so in a sense, the project contributed to that.
