Bio
Jens Hauggaard is a student of Communication Studies in Concordia University, Montreal. Predominantly, he works in a visual medium -- by trade, he draws. However, during his studies, he has branched out and tried his hand at animation and creative writing. In doing this, he feels like he have broadened his horizons on creativity and he have had a taste of working with interdisciplinary art. With hopes of taking this further, he thrives to explore various media to enrich his understanding of different processes. While he enjoys the visual and written aspects, he aspires to push the boundaries to find the limits of art making. Currently, his mind is fixated on finding a way to view sport and competition as an artistic spectacle in itself.

Why did you get involved in this project?
A professor of mine presented me the opportunity and I was interested in stepping out of my comfort zone.
Did the one week turn-around for the work help or hinder your creativity?
I feel like there was not much of a difference when it came to my creative process. My process is quite sporadic anyways. If I had longer, however, I would have spent more time on the production side of the project.
How did you feel about working on a project where you didn’t know who you were collaborating with?
It felt like I was in a faceless production line. I got the concept, had to make something out of it, and send it over to someone else. It makes me think of industrial film production (however I have not been a part of anything). I say this because, to my understanding, there is a disconnect between actors, musicians, and editors which has a resemblance in this project.
Has being involved in the project changed your thoughts on creativity?
To be honest, not really. I always saw creativity as an amalgam of ideas that is formulated by one or more people.
